Cautious Yanga plot Mwadui fall
Yanga who were forced to share spoils with Mwadui in their last season’s game at their Mwadui Complex in Shinyanga, have expressed a strong desire to overcome the threat and win their away encounter against diehard hosts.
The defending champions’ squad is expected to travel to Shinyanga Region tomorrow ahead of the Saturday’s skill showdown against Jamhuri Kihwelo’s formidable squad, which seemed to give Hans van der Pluijm’s side a difficult time whenever they met at their home ground.
Pluijm disclosed the precautions they are taking because they know there are many hurdles to clear before claiming a victory in Shinyanga and named bad pitch as among the notable ones.
The Dutch coach said he had to tackle the situation so as to ensure they get positive results in their crucial away games across the Lake Zone regions. After testing Mwadui FC on Saturday, the defending champions will remain in Shinyanga Region to take on Stand United at the Kambarage Stadium on September 25.
The Shinyanga based club has also been a hard nut at home when playing against the country’s football giants Yanga or Simba, thus forcing either of them to take extra precautions whenever they face them at their home base.
Last season, Yanga who eventually clinched the league title, lost their first two points in Shinyanga after Mwadui forced them to a 2-2 draw at the Mwadui Complex, before the Dar es Salaam club registered a slim 2-1 win in the second leg match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The defending champions are currently placed third in the league table after playing three games, two at home where they won 3-0 against African Lyon and Majimaji FC respectively while they were forced to a barren draw when they faced Ndanda FC away at Nangwanda Stadium in Mtwara.
Yanga are behind leaders Azam FC and their arch-rivals Simba at the first and second positions respectively, each of them hauled 10 points after playing four matches each.
Meanwhile the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has unveiled that there are no changes on date and venue of the eagerly awaited match between Azam FC and Simba SC scheduled to take place this Saturday at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
According to the federation statement, the Saturday’s match which Azam is the host, will be played at the Uhuru Stadium albeit the ice-cream makers club insistence to host the encounter at their Chamazi Complex in the outskirts of Dar es Salaam.
Azam are insisting on the big matches to be played at their home ground at Chamazi Complex claiming the Stadium has all standards required by the World football governing body(FIFA).
Azam further claim the Chamazi Complex has been passed to host both international and local matches after being inspected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and TFF. If the game is moved to Chamazi Complex it will be the first big local match to be played there.
