Tactician Joseph Omog has signed a two-year contract to train Simba SC
The deal was sealed between the club chairman Evans Aveva and Omog.
The Cameroonian trainer has been given the chance to recruit his assistant who will cope with him.
Omog replaces caretaker coach, Ugandan Jackson Mayanja who took over from Briton Dylan Kerr, sacked by the team for poor performance.
Mayanja who was taken from Coastal Union of Tanga, took the team from lower positions to the pilot seat only for the Msimbazi Street side to finish third in the 16-team Mainland Premier League.
Omog said that Simba was a big club needing close attention in order to perform well.
“We need to be given time to change Simba. The change cannot come as a magic wave, patience is needed to make it possible,” the coach said.
Omog helped Azam FC win the Mainland championship in the 2013/14 season with an unbeaten run, making the Chamazi-based side qualify for the CAF Champions League. His inability to tackle opposition in the continental tourney contributed to his sacking.
Omog and his assistant, Kenyan Ibrahim Shikanda were sacked on grounds that their methods where not helping the team achieve its ambitions.
While he was the head coach Azam lost 2-3 to Sudanese team El-Merreikh, losing 3-0 in Khartoum after winning the first leg 2-0 in Dar es Salaam.
Omog joined Azam FC in December 2013 taking over from Stewart John Hall, having won the CAF Confederation Cup in 2012 with AC Leopards of Congo Brazzaville.
