Magufuli song finally released in Kenya
A POP track with the patriotic theme of praising Tanzania’s fifth Head of State, President John Magufuli has been completed, reports has that the song will be made available here in the course of this week.
However, the song entitled, ‘Heko Rais Dokta Magufuli,’ (In praise of President Dr John Magufuli), is not the work of any current artist or band based in the country, but rather comes all the way from Nairobi.
‘Heko Rais Dokta Magufuli,’ has been penned by one of the veteran musicians, ‘Skassy Kasambula,’ and belted by his entire band known as Orchestra Safari Star, which is based in Nairobi Kenya.
“The song will come as a standalone single to be available in Dar-es-salaam through one ‘Ebra Son Gamstone,” said Kasambula during an online interview explaining that, most Kenyans and he are very impressed with Tanzania’s new president and decided to honour him with a song.
But Kasambula is not a new name in Tanzania’s music industry; the legendary musician has entertained here between 1980 and 1994 playing for Dar-es-salaam based groups, before shifting to Kenya.
A Congolese by origin, Skassy Kasambula arrived in the country in the early eighties and sang with a number of popular bands at the time, starting with Super Matimila, moving on to Orchestra Tomatoma, before joining Orchestra Safari Sound, then Sambulumaa Band and later Ngorongoro Heroes.
In addition to ‘Dr John Magufuli’ song, Kasambula and his Orchestra Safari Star will also be releasing an album containing ten new tracks and this also may be soon available in Tanzania as well.
Already the singer had penned and released a song in praise of Kenya’s president, Uhuru Kenyatta and has revealed that he will release more tracks to this effect, towards Kenya’s forthcoming General Elections of July 2017.
Some of Skassy Kasambula’s best works of yesteryears include ‘Christina Moshi,’ with Orchestra Safari Sound, ‘CCM Imekuwa,’ with Sambulumaa Band and ‘Fatuma Bakari,’ with Kenya Blue Stars.
Meanwhile another Tanzanian legendary singer and composer, Maximillian Bushoke, who is currently based in South Africa where he works as broadcaster at one of the Radio Stations in Johannesburg has also released new songs also bound to be future hits.
